InfoComm and Digital Media Jobs: Market Profile

Information Communications and Digital Media are central to Singapore’s growth plans moving forward. Singapore has been ranked as the second most network-ready country in the world and the first in Asia, according to the World Economic Forum’s “Global Information Technology Report 2010/2011″. The roll out of the Intelligent Nation 2015 Master Plan and the National Broadband Network have also underscored Singapore’s commitment to become a global force in InfoComm world.

Singapore’s strategic geographical location, excellent infrastructure, robust intellectual property protection, good physical and trade connectivity, and easy access to global talent allow global companies to meet the growing demand within the region, and allow these companies to innovate accordingly. Hence, infocomm product companies are becoming more and more inclined to set up their global headquarters, and develop new infocomm products from Singapore. Global brands such as Dell, IBM, Cisco and Lucent have established regional or global headquarters in Singapore. The full suite of functions are operated from here: from R&D to Manufacturing. Gaming giant Ubisoft are the latest one of its kind to set up base in Singapore.

Many jobs cannot be filled by the current population so the government agency MOM (Ministry of Manpower) are actively looking to fill certain roles. This includes work in Software Engineers, System Analysts and Game Programmers. Companies to approach for work in Singapore should include IBM, DellCisco, Atos, Alcatel-Lucent and Ubisoft (for gaming and programming jobs).
